An Unexpected Sunrise

This will not be the mourning they expect
No well-dressed ceremony of defeat
Though we’ll not submit, we will pay respect

But they’ll see no tears, we’ll sound no retreat
Life is for here, we stand for the living
Though starting over proves no easy feat

We are scared, mistake not our misgiving
But fear may queue only behind life’s breadth
Time may come but we’ll not do his bidding

We’ll broach no commiserations of death
Do not inflict us with your sympathy
We are not quitting, so go hold your breath
