Issue 16, Spring 2025
Foreword
from “Big Yellow Bloom” by Lorely Mutchler
In July 2025, MCC will become Mohave College. Though the name change is bittersweet (and somewhat divisive), it will reflect all the changes and growth of the last few years from launching our collegiate sports program and campus housing to preparing to offer 4 year degrees. Issue 16, however, continues the Ovis tradition of showcasing MCC community member entries in the MCC Flash Film Festival, an annual event hosted by the Bullhead City Campus Student Arts Club.
Included in this issue is work from Kaylie Burnham, Joseph Ketchum, Lorely Mutchler, Brandon Patterson, Erin Roper, Trinity Strickland, Karastin Turner, Madz Walker, and Timothy White.
Strickland, Turner, and White explore gruesome sides of humanity.
Ketchum, Patterson, Roper, and Walker return with their distinct perspectives and styles in short film.
Burnham shares the struggles of growing up outside of a community’s norms.
Finally, first-time contributor Mutchler’s art invites us to partake in single, suspended moments.
